We’re excited to launch the Copilot for Microsoft 365 Early Access Program, a paid, invitation-only preview for 600 customers worldwide. Since March, Copilot has been tested with 20 enterprise customers, including Goodyear, General Motors, The Walsh Group, and Avanade, who’ve seen Copilot’s potential to revolutionize work, especially by enhancing creativity and optimizing meetings. Customer feedback has been crucial in refining Copilot, helping us develop features like multi-turn conversational interactions to make Copilot even more intuitive.
Introducing Semantic Index for Copilot
To support AI-readiness, we’re also rolling out Semantic Index for Copilot in Microsoft 365 E3 and E5. This advanced indexing capability maps user and company data, interpreting requests more accurately. For example, if you search for “March Sales Report,” Semantic Index understands the context—knowing that “sales reports are handled by Kelly on the finance team and created in Excel”—to deliver precise results. This feature enhances search and Copilot responses, improving accuracy for all E3 and E5 users.
Transforming Meetings and Brainstorming with Copilot in Whiteboard
Copilot in Whiteboard will revolutionize how teams collaborate in Microsoft Teams meetings and brainstorming sessions. Using natural language prompts, users can generate ideas, organize them into themes, design visuals, and summarize content. This tool empowers creative meetings, allowing users to turn ideas into images with Microsoft Designer integration and share insights with Microsoft Loop components. Tasks Copilot can assist with in Whiteboard include:
- Generating marketing slogans from keywords.
- Visualizing concepts using Designer in Whiteboard.
- Organizing ideas into key themes.
- Summarizing content for seamless sharing with Microsoft Loop.
Enhancing Presentations with Copilot in PowerPoint
We’re also integrating OpenAI’s DALL-E image generator into PowerPoint, enabling users to create custom images from text prompts to bring presentations to life. For instance, ask Copilot to “create a black and white image of a bulletin board with sticky notes and postcards in an artistic style.” Additionally, Copilot’s Rewrite with Copilot feature optimizes presentation text, helping users refine wording, create concise slides, and generate effective slide titles. Examples include:
- Converting text-heavy slides to bullet points.
- Rephrasing text for improved readability.
- Enhancing clarity and conciseness.
Boosting Communication with Copilot in Outlook
New features in Copilot for Outlook make it easier to draft impactful emails. With coaching on tone, clarity, and structure, Copilot helps users communicate effectively even under tight deadlines. Examples of Copilot’s assistance in Outlook:
- Coaching on email tone for sensitive topics.
- Providing suggestions for clear messaging under time constraints.
Organizing and Enhancing Notes with Copilot in OneNote
Copilot in OneNote works across all notes, images, and data, helping users draft plans, generate ideas, create lists, and format content. Using simple prompts, Copilot enhances digital notebooks, highlights key points, and organizes information intuitively. Examples of what Copilot can do in OneNote include:
- Summarizing notes into bullet points on a new page.
- Identifying and grouping unanswered questions.
- Organizing content for streamlined workflows.
Streamlining Collaboration with Copilot in Microsoft Loop
In Microsoft Loop, Copilot helps teams stay aligned by quickly summarizing content across Loop pages. This allows teams to generate summaries that capture project highlights, keep team members informed, and share updates seamlessly. Examples of Copilot usage in Microsoft Loop include:
- Inserting a highlight summary at the top of a page.
- Generating summaries for new team members via Microsoft Teams or Outlook.
- Editing summaries and tagging members for key items.
Empowering Learning with Copilot in Microsoft Viva
Later this year, Copilot will expand to Microsoft Viva to support learning journeys. In Viva Learning, Copilot assists with creating personalized learning paths, discovering relevant resources, and scheduling time for training. Examples of Copilot’s capabilities in Viva Learning include:
- Developing a deeper understanding of topics like neural networks.
- Creating a learning path around inclusive leadership.
